Mombasa County Governor Hassan Joho has presented to the County assembly a list of part of the nominees to fill his cabinet , County Executives.
In a letter dated September 22 2017, Joho retained three of his former Executives. Taufiq Balala in charge of Transport, Infrastructure and Public works, Hazel Koitaba who was in charge of Finance nominated for the health docket previously held by Binty Omar and Fatma Awale who has retained her water, sanitation and Natural resources docket.
The new comers includes former Chief of staff in the Governor’s office Kevin Munywoki who has been nominared for the Youth, Gender and Sports docket. Edward Dzilla Nyale to replace Antony Njaramba in the lands ,planning and housing docket and Dr Godffery Nyongesa Nato nominee for the environment , waste management and energy docket replacing Lewa Tendai Mtana.
Joab Tumbo is the new Chief of Staff.
Five dockets including Finance and economic docket, Tourism and culture development, Education and children, Agriculture, livestock and fisheries and Trade energy and industrial development have not yet been filled.
A source within the power circle has revealed to Ommydallah that there is alot of lobbying especially from powerful individuals who played a big role in Joho’s last campaigns.
“There is a lot of lobbying currently going on. Each individual who was part of the inner circle during the campaigns have their own preferred names. The Governor is also trying to balance the appointments so as to avoid blames especially from people and communities that supported him during the campaigns” said the source.
Among the individuals who played a major role in Joho’s campaigns and whose efforts have bore fruits is Taufiq Balala, he accompanied the Governor in all his political rallies and meetings.
