Interior Cabinet Secretary Major Gen. (Rtd.) Joseph Nkaissery has now given Mombasa Governor Ali Hassan Joho up to 2PM today (Tuesday) to surrender his fire
Nkaissery said that Governor Joho will be arrested if he does not adhere to the directive. On appealing, Nkaisery said that Joho can only appeal the order after he has surrendered his firearms.
Nkaisery charged “Governor Joho has until 2PM to surrender his firearms failure to which he will be arrested. The law is very clear on the mandate I was given,”
Joho has been quoted saying that he will not surrender his guns since he has not misused them.
The ODM deputy party leader maintains that the move is aimed at frustrating him over his allegiance to ODM and his efforts in ensuring that ODM carries the day in the just concluded Malindi by election where Willy Mtengo fo ODM won the by elections.
Meanwhile CORD leader Raila Odinga has cautioned Interior Cabinet Secretary Joseph Nkaissery against attempts to arrest Mombasa Governor Ali Hassan Joho.
Raila said that they will not allow Joho to be arrested saying if Nkaissery makes true his threat, they will mobilise their supporters to storm the particular police station and free him.
Other leaders who have also made such statements includes CORD co-principals Moses Wetangula and Kalonzo Musyoka who have said that they will not accept any attempts to arrest Joho.
