Mombasa Governor Hassan Joho has told off the National Government for withdrawing his bodyguards.
Speaking at an opposition meeting in Nairobi, Joho said he does not need the bodyguards , the ODM deputy party leader also noted that he has no apologies to make for the remarks he made in the presence of President Uhuru Kenyatta last week in Mombasa.
“I want to put a stop to this conversation about security. I have asked that they (Jubilee) should not give me security. I do not need their security infact am better off this way, today i drove myself to Bomas and i must admit that i was the happiest man on earth” he said.
“If telling the truth is being disrespectful, I have nothing to say to Jubilee. I have no apology to make,”he added.
Joho noted that he will continue criticising the government with no fear.
Earlier Mombasa Senator Hassan Omar called for an audit into Joho’s security arguing that the governor walks around with many heavily individuals.
On his part Coast Regional Commissioner Nelson Marwa accused Joho of playing victim in the whole issue of security withdrawal. He called on the Governor to stop complaining noting that all governors will be assigned five officers.
Joho and his Kilifi Counterpart Amason kingi had their withdrwan last Friday with police claiming that it was part of restructuring.
