ODM leaders in Mombasa have taken issue with President Uhuru’s political rally that took place in Jomvu sub county yesterday evening.
According to the party’s candidate for the County Senatorial seat Mohammed Faki, the president’s visit was a “disappointment” to the residents and the entire Coast region at large.
Faki noted “We expected that the president would talk about the issues affecting the people like Insecurity, squatter and their solution but instead it was a usual political rhetoric”
“Why should you come all the way here just to attack other leaders, tell us how you have tackled the issue of insecurity which has now been affecting most parts of the Coast region” he added.
Faki a lawyer by profession accused the President of “favouring” other regions during his visits.
“When he went to Kisii he issued out some money to settle the IDPs, he should have done the same with the squatters in Jomvu who also includes their candidate for the parliamentary seat who is a squatter on my client’s property” he argued.
He further accused the government of trying to scare away voters especially in areas perceived to be opposition strong holds through heavy presence of police.
