Popular Kenyan singer arrested in Tanzania, pleads for help


Singer Lady Maureen was arrested in Tanzania for entering the country without legal travel documents.

Maureen who sings in Dholuo  was arrested together with Nyar Ng’ato Traditional Dancers last week and arraigned in a Mwanza-based court.

They were sentenced to six months in jail with bail  about Ksh 35,000 each.They have been at Bukungu Prison Mwanza for nine days and she’s appealing to well-wishers to help her.

It will be remembered that in February this year, she counted losses after a failed album launch in Egesa East Villa in Umoja 1.When time came for the singer to perform, the lights kept going off as soon as she took to the stage and revelers demanded for their money back.

The singer collapsed on stage and  was rushed to Nairobi Women’s hospital citing depression. She was later discharged on Valentine’s day.
